ESSENTIAL OILS: NATURAL ACTIVE INGREDIENTS
The essential oils, chemically, are the volatile matters obtained from vegetables by squeeze, steam distillation or extraction with solvents. The oils obtained from steam distillation generally are liquid with color light yellow to brown; the oils obtained by other methods appear semisolids. Many of them contain up to 50 components. The main components are terpenes and oxygenated compounds. In the cosmetic field the essential oil are widely used for their properties.
