Description:
Jojoba oil is a liquid wax, not an oil, and is extracted from the seeds of the jojoba plant (Simmondsia Chinensis). It is produced in Mexico, Arizona, California, Israel and Argentina. Unlike plant oils, which are mainly composed of triglycerides, jojoba oil is similar to human sebum and can therefore be used widely in beauty treatments for hair and skin. It has excellent hydrating and softening properties.
Massaged into skin, it combines naturally with sebum and gently helps rid the pores of impurities. It has softening, healing and protective properties.
For regular moisturising, a few drops can be massaged into clean skin each day or blended into day cream. It should be remembered that when used by itself it will only perform a softening action and it should be applied to damp skin (or with wet hands) if you want it to hydrate.
It helps to keep skin supple during pregnancy and when a few drops are massaged into the scalp, it acts as an excellent pre-wash dandruff treatment.
It can be used to protect the tips of dry hair; a few drops can be applied before drying hair or before going out in the sun and jojoba oil will protect hair from wind, sun, pollution and chemicals used in hair dyes, bleaches and perms. It can also be used to hydrate and nourish lips, and is useful for getting rid of any left-over hair-removal wax.
Dosage: 2-10% and above; there are no side effects with increased doses.
